Kleinmond lagoon

Kleinmond is named after the small lagoon mounth at the sandy beach of Sandown Bay.  Kleinmond is easily accessed via the N2 from Cape Town (120km away) or via the scenic coastal Clarence Drive route from Gordon's Bay.  The population of the town numbers approximately 5 200 residents, swelling to plus - minus 10 000 during peak season. Hermanus is a mere 20 minutes away.
 
kleinmond4_200Kleinmond has a small fishing harbour surrounded by a wide selection of restaurants.  Clean swimming beaches which are also ideal for fishing and surfing are a great attraction.  There are active golf, tennis and bowling clubs.  Extra accommodation in the form of 2 municipal caravan parks is also available.  Nature lovers flock to Kleinmond because of the glorious hiking trails.  From May to December the Southern Right and Humpback whales are extremely common as they come close to the shoreline to calve and nurse their young.  Kleinmond is also famouns for its herd of wild horse, which roam freely around the marshlands surrounding Kleinmond.
